Here's another post...
I'm literally obsessed with the man.
I'm quite excited to get my hands on Influence by the Olsen twins (birthday present, yet to receive) just to read stuff that Mr Lagerfield has written. *sigh*

Anyway he once said that real photography is getting pushed aside for this Photoshop/photo-editing bullshit and I completely agree. Though Photoshop is great for some things, airbrushing has now become a necessity in most editorials and nothing feels REAL anymore. It's probably the main reason I play with film cameras or rarely use Photoshop to edit my digital photographs... I'd rather keep it raw.

Anyway here are some editorial pics he did for the Chanel Paris-Moscou campaign.
Love the lighting, makes everything feel very dramatic and IMO very Russian.

Kilts and Frills

Introducing:
Jonathan Saunders

I stumbled across this Scotsman when I was perusing Outnet (net-a-porter's sale site). I found this gorgeous dress and a similarly lovely skirt. (My eyes also got caught by this gorgeous Rick Owen skirt but it was sold out)

For those who can't see properly in the pictures (don't worry I can't really see either), there are buttons and loop holes on different levels/lengths of the dress and skirt. From what I remember seeing, you can either wear the two pieces long or buttoned up as shown in the pictures.

Ingenious idea if you ask me, especially if you're going from day to night!
But what it really got me wondering was this:
Is this where Sass and Bide got their inspiration for their current season Dark Horse dress?

Either way I had a look at Jonathan Saunders' other things and his current collection is amazing. Full of bright colours, great girly yet rigid cuts and great fabrics!
And the colourways he's adopted... it's no wonder he began as a textile print designer!

Space Odyssey

The main reason I adore my new Antipodium skirt is the print.
The out-of-space/galaxy like print really appeals to me!

Luckily for me other Aus (and non-Aus) designers right now are fulfilling my lemming for more psychedelic space mambo jambo.

Anyone who knows me well knows I have an obsession for the fashion house Chanel.

Ever since I was little my dream was to own my very own medium/large classic flap with gold hardware. I never knew there were two leathers back then but I ended up opting for the Medium/Large Classic Flap in CAVIAR :) (will upload a photo tomorrow). The fashion house now lead by the one and only fashion designer, intellect, photographer, Karl Lagerfield. I think I have an old man crush on him. He's just amazing.

Anyway.... today I saw this:

For only $16.95 AUD RRP these Ambra tights are seriously awesome. They come in two purples and a grey and I think a blue as well. Not exactly as classic as the beige and black but the purple is really hot. I might be safe and pick up the grey though. :)

- this was taken at the 31 Rue Cambon Paris Fashion Week After-party
- we were walking past Rue St. Honore in Paris and I saw it was Rue Cambon and dragged my boyfriend down the road... only to stumble across this party.... I nearly died on the spot knowing that Karl Lagerfield was maybe 5 seconds away from me. Insta-oragasm.

If anyone has read Karl's interview in Influence by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen... you'll find it hard not to be taken away by him. I love reading what he has to say about anything. Such a smart guy!

Most amazing thing I read was Karl telling us how he thinks photography these days is shot with all the technology, Photoshop etc, real photography doesn't exist like it used to. Photos are now looking the same. Faces are the same. Karl, I couldn't agree more. I love non-digital photographs, they make everything feel so raw.

Tickled

Today was pretty horrible. Had to go and get money from the government, step 1. I'm so unmotivated to do so. Finding a job can't be THAT difficult right?

There's a few I'm actually interested in, and funnily enough they're in retail. Despite swearing off retail I think I'm weaning myself back into it. Something about little kids and arts and crafts totally has me tickled pink.

I'd just like to give props to another blogger, kittentails. She has this fabulous idea to reinvite the whole writing letters to each other thing. Here's the blog entry. I might sign myself up, would love a pen friend. I had one in France in primary school (I went to a bilingual primary school, we spoke French for half the day, no I am not fluent but yes I am more confident in speaking it when I'm tipsy... as seen in Bordeaux haha) but it didn't really work out for us haha. Maybe you can join up too? Maybe we'll end up being pen friends?

I am very very excited :)
I just found the most perfect film scanner to cater for my needs.
Scrap ebay, owning a Mac limits me from buying the cheap ones from there, but they only hold around 6 135 film frames per scan anyway. Not as good as this baby:

The Epson Perfection 4490 Photo Scanner :)

- scans 120 film (:o :o, so happy)
- scans up to 12 frames of 135 film!
- (best part) MAC compatible!!!

I've only been searching 5 minutes but I found one that sells it with insured shipping for only $341! I'm so happy, the fact that it scans 120 makes it a lot more valuable to me. Better than the thousands of dollars that other Mac compatible scanners can be

(Oh and don't tell me Macs are silly. I love my two Macs!)

Silk Scarves

Ever since finding some in my mother's wardrobe I've been obsessed with them.
It started off as using them as silk skirts (will try and find a photo) but after my 2006 trip to Shanghai and picking up the perfect 90cm x 90cm black and white silk scarf, I've been using these as proper scarves ever since.

Made famous by many high fashion design houses, but made infamous by Hermes, there are just so many ways to tie them! They're completely versatile, and don't say they don't suit you, they really do suit everyone. You just have to find the perfect colour/shades to suit you.

Disney Couture

I have always been in love with the brand. Their wraps are so amazingly beautiful and remind of my end of high school days when my friends and I were in Bryon Bay in NSW. We used to buy leather straps for $2 at the hippie shops and then wrap them around ourselves as accessories... quintessentially what Disney Couture has done, but a lot prettier.

Burberry what?

Sorry I used to hate this brand for it's bags.
The checks, the colours, the vomit.
Some might think the nova check is a classic but then again there are people who love the Louis Vuitton monogram print... both are debatable.
My honest opinion of the Burberry check is the same as the monogram. Overdone. Overseen. Faked by too many. I love a hint of the check in items (ie their trench coats... die for one) but who needs it all over. It makes me want to hurl.

But of late, they're getting it very very right. Firstly with all the studded new style bags. Now with the awesome cluthes. These are my favourite:
