DIY: Sailor Collar

I spent all of today sewing this up :-)
Didn't really start making it til the afternoon but hey... it didn't take TOO long... right?
It's a little big at the shoulders/back but I didn't use a pattern, I just sew sew sewed... surprised how well it turned out.

Cheap to make too :)
- white grosgrain ribbon $4 for 5 metres
- navy cotton poplin for $2 a metre
- old snap closures I found in mum's old sewing kit

DIY Heaven

I bought heaps of material at the Lincraft sale. So exciting. Picked up some cream material for our little LH project but I also got a meter of navy cotton to make a sailor collar. Quite the exciting.

This bow was inspired by ones D and I saw at Lady boutique in the city. I have a skirt in the same material and decided to make this bow for Saturday night. So cute

OOTD #9 + DIY #3

So last night I decided to make a skirt.
It was going to be lined to make it more poofy but then I realised the material I wanted for the lining was too small/not enough. I ended up making the skirt lining-less, but the elastic waist was too big, so I cut it... but too much.

End result... me trying to squeeze into a 60cm waist when in reality I'm around 70cm. For those who don't know, it means the elastic curls and gets stretched to it's limit and isn't very happy. But because I was so in love with the skirt, I decided to wear it. But of course, with a belt to cover the small small elasticated waist.

I HAVE THE TRAVEL BUG!

As I previously posted I just came back from a 157 day half world trip around Asia and Europe.
It was the most amazing experience of my life.
I went with my boy, there were fights, tears and hugs and in all honesty it was completely worth it :) I grew so much, I am still a little kid at heart but I was a toddler before I left.

Anyway while travelling I really wanted a passport holder. It's ridiculous what people charge now a days for those things. Anyway I made one today :)



It's not quite finished, I still need to stick on a cream "passport" label on the front of it and then it will be complete.

Project 1: Peter Pan Collar

I have a huge obsession with Peter Pan collars.
After seeing it on some items last year I was hooked.
On my holiday I saw the most amazing Mango sundress but the colours weren't right. *sigh*
On a brighter note, in Elle UK I found this:

PPQ is a London based brand. I'm loving it! It has some amazing things. The store is based in Mayfair and sounds pretty awesome. Apparently it has "oyster and grey" checkered walls like in Alice in Wonderland! Yes... that dress above does remind me of AiW!!!!

I love the front of it, I'm going to try and make a black collar onto this dress:
